And You Thought The Winter Was Awesome, Most Boast The Summer Activities Are Better!

The winter is awesome in Whistler, but the summer is just as good - some claim better. Be sure to get into as many activities as possible to ensure you maximise your Whistler experience.

Paintballing

Whistler Paintballing is not just for the boys - girls this is one of the best adrenaline rushes you will get in Whistler!
And the best part is - it doesn't hurt as much as what people lead you to believe, when you get hit by a paintball.

When Jason suggested to go paintballing, my initial reaction was 'why would the boys want us girls playing war games" I realised that it didn't matter if you were a boy or girl - but a sport that everyone could enjoy.

I'm crouching down, behind a tree, hearing the paintballs fly past me. I peak my head out from behind and see my target. I pulse my finger on the trigger and out comes a series of paintballs.

Missed.

They fire back... its my turn again. I see my target behind the barricade and shoot again - Yes, got him.

Next target!

I went with my friend Kel and the boys, Jas and Scott, and tagged along on another group that made up the numbers (you need at least 10 people to get the game started).
Suiting us up in long sleeved overalls and shielded masks, we set off for the bush for 3 hours of hiding, sneaking and strategic maneuvering.
It may sound like a war zone and very intense, but in reality, its a heap of fun and you can make what you want of it - you can sit back and not shoot anyone, or you can go full throttle and play your heart out.
In our paintballing session, we played seven different games, each going for 20 minutes, on two diverse fields. The idea is to eliminate as many people from the opposing team, whilst achieving the objective of the game AND not getting shot yourself! Once a paintball hits you - you are out for that game only.
Each game has different objectives. For instance in one game, there was a flag in each teams fort and the objective was to secure our teams flag from the oppositions fort and bring it back home - and in the mean time, dodge paintballs and strategically plan our method of attack.
The adrenaline rush was awesome - it creeps up on you as you hear the paintballs zoom past you, your shooting opponents and your getting closer to your flag.
We walked away with endless stories of close shaves (of paint!) and how and who we shot!
A common myth about paintballing is that it is dangerous and when hit by a paintball it hurts - well, in reality, all danger is eliminated with protective clothing and masks and the paintballs hurt just a tinch.
The day was awesome. It is relatively cheap for such an experience and a great day to have with friends or strangers.
