Your Complete Guide For Directions To Whistler

Everyone knows where Whistler is...but I hear you ask 'what are the actual directions to Whistler?'. Below are the various options available to getting you on the slopes ASAP!

Directions to Whistler via railway

Whistler Mountaineer
All Aboard! In May 2006, the train from Vancouver to Whistler started. The train seems to only be in the summer time. If you get the chance to jump on it, I hear its quite a journey (one I haven't experience yet). You can view the schedules and pricing here

Directions to Whistler via the road

Buses

Greyhound
The Greyhound bus has several services linking from Vancouver, through to Squamish and Whistler. With eight services a day from downtown Vancouver to Whistler and seven return services, Greyhound will no doubt meet your needs when needing directions to Whistler.

A one way fare will set you back $18.80 (Vancouver to Whistler). Whereas a return fare is $37.60

Snowbus
Snowbus started running in November 2004. Although offering similar priced fares with Greyhound, the scheduled services are not as frequent as Greyhound.

One-way is $23.96 and return $42.92. You can get score a round trip between Vancouver and Whistler for $33.96. But, this is offered to Snowclub members (membership is $20/year).

Airport and downtown
If you arrive at the airport and need to get downtown (bus depot) to catch a Greyhound or Snowbus, the YVR Airporter would be your best bet (if your are budget conscious - otherwise I'd recommend to catch a cab!).

If coming from the International airport, the bus leaves every 20 minutes from 8:55 to 21:25. 

If leaving from the Domestic airport, the buses run every 20 minutes from 9:00 to 21:30.

The YVR Airporter bus is located on the International and Domestic Arrivals level curb. No reservations required.

The rate is $13.50 one-way for an adult on the YVR Airporter.

 Airport Express Coach

Perimeter have a Whistler Express coach. You don't even need to worry about what the directions to whistler are, as this connects you directly from the airport to the centre of Whistler village.

The investment is $67 one-way (Adult) and $45 (child aged 5-12). This costs more than Greyhound. Although, it takes away the hassle of catching a bus to downtown Vancouver and then jumping onto a Greyhound (which doesn't necessarily have a direct connection).

If you are on a budget, the airport shuttle and Greyhound bus is your best option. If you have the cash and want to get here in the quickest and easiest time possible... Go with Perimeter.

They also do drop off and pick ups from hotels in both Vancouver and Whistler. This is for reserved passengers only.

*Helpful hint: For International arrivals; once you clear customs and exit, don't follow the crowd to the right! The Whistler Express reservation desk is about 50m down on your left.
For domestic arrivals; check in is at Perimeter kiosk opposite baggage carousel #5.
Be aware, you will have to check your bags onto the bus yourself. Also for best views on the way up, grab a seat on the left hand side!

*Important note: Be aware, there are 2 stops made with Whistler Express. The first is Creekside. The second is Gateway Loop. Gateway Loop is the stop if you are wanting to be in the main village of Whistler.

Car

If you need directions to Whistler from Vancouver, its pretty simple.

Go North on Highway 99. Situated 120km from Vancouver. The drive will take you about 2 hours.

Hitchhiking

There is one other direction to Whistler that some people believe they can utilise, but we warn you... It is illegal to hitchhike and to pick up a hitchhiker.

Directions to Whistler via the air

Helicopter

If you're really keen to get to Whistler quickly, there are some easy directions to Whistler - Just catch a helicopter.

Direct from the airport to Whistler with Blackcomb Helicopters, a 2 passenger ride will set you back $1590 (plus tax) or $1950 (plus tax) for 5 passengers. This ride is only 35 minutes.

Black Tusk Helicopters also provide a similar service from Vancouver airport to Whistler. A 3 passenger ride is $1881.06 and a 4 passenger is $2084.36. Please keep in mind that these prices include tax. The prices are pretty much the same for a return trip.

Flights
