Detox and Massage
If you are looking for a Whistler Spa, Esperanza is awesome.
Jason and I both went and had a treatment. For me, I indulged in a Detox Wrap. I
have never had one before and after my treatment, I would not hesitate to have
another.
Monika started my Whistler Spa experience by exfoliating my entire body with an Apricot
scrub. I could feel Monika slough away my old skin and bring it alive with the
Jojoba, avocado, peach and sunflower oils contained in the exfoliant.
Next, was lathering me up with the Sea Body Mud and wrapping me snug in about
3-4 layers to assist with the detoxifying. And no, you don't feel hot, or as if
you are suffocating (I was a little worried at first) but it is very comfortable
and relaxing. Whilst the detox was happening, Monika massaged my feet and sent
me to sleep.
After the wrap, I showered and was treated to a 10 minute steam, whilst
rehydrating myself with water.
With the wrap lasting an hour, my next hour was a massage!
Lori was my masseuse and took the time to ask me of any injuries or areas that
required special attention. Using a Cranberry and Pomegranate hydrating lotion
(I had to ask, as it smelt so nice) and Soy Bean massage oil on my face, my body
was soothed and rehydrated.
My overall Whistler Spa experience was excellent at Esperanza, with professional
service, relaxing music in the background, and leaving with a sense of
tranquility and well being, I am ready for my next treatment.
Here's what Jason had to say about his Whistler Spa treatment.
I have never been for a massage before and also had in the back of my mind that
massages and treatments are for women only. Taking the plunge and having a
Sports Massage was just what the doctor ordered after a day of snowboarding . My
massage was very similar to Lisa's in the sense of Lori taking the time to find
out my needs and used the correct oils for my body type.
After my massage, a 15 minute steam followed to finish off my experience.
I used to have the notion that the oils, music and Day Spa's were not for men.
But, I no longer associate it with being a feminine treatment, and am glad I
took the opportunity to enjoy a Whistler Spa at Esperanza.
Facial and Pedicure
After five months of my face being exposed to the cold wind and air whilst
boarding and my feet constantly in my snowboard boots - this was exactly what my
body needed.
Starting off with my one hour facial, they cleansed and toned my skin. Following
that was an exfoliating mask, whilst steaming my face. Monika then performed a
Chinese acupressure massage, which sent me right to sleep! After putting on a moisturising mask, a short foot massage was had and I was
left to absorb the mask for about 15 minutes.
Finishing off
with a moisturiser, my skin has never looked, nor felt as great and hydrated as
it did when I finished the treatment.
Monika adapted the facial to my skin type and used the appropriate masks and
products. My skin was very dehydrated from being exposed to the cold all winter.
I would have to recommend a facial to finish off your holiday or season to
rehydrate and give your face what it deserves
- TLC.
Next was my pedicure. Now, I had never had one before and was quite curious if I
would come out satisfied. Starting out with soaking my feet, they were nice and
soft for Erin to start my cuticle and nail work. Next was a gentle, yet
effective scrub of my feet to rid me of any calluses. A massage and exfoliation
of my feet and lower legs were relaxing and soothing. Erin finished off with a
French manicure.
I can honestly say that I was loving how my feet looked and felt and am glad I
treated my feet to a well deserved pedicure. Both treatments are recommended for
men and women.
P.S: Weeks after, I was still looking at how cool my feet looked!

Mecca Massage
I came across Mecca Massage at a wellness fair in Whistler. I
had to enter the competition for a free massage and funny enough - I won! Now
this is not so much a Whistler Spa, but more a private interaction.
So, Arni called me and we organised my free one hour massage. On the day I
wasn't too excited about it, as my body didn't feel tight in any areas, so I
thought it would be quite a relaxing and soothing massage.
Not so.
Once Arni starting massaging, he found an array of places on my body that needed
work - and once he found and felt the tight spots - so did I. Arni noticed my
right side was tight (from the rotation used in snowboarding), the 'painters'
muscle in my shoulder blade was extremely tight (from temporarily being a
cashier whilst earning my dollar in Whistler), I had bad knees - causing tight muscles in certain parts of my legs
and he also discovered two muscles at the base of my head were extremely tight
(due to whiplash from snowboarding - most snowboarders can relate with a few
knocks to the head!).
Now the reason why I had to write about Arni is because I never told him about
my career, my history with my knees or any injuries that I had (or didn't know I
had). His knowledge and wisdom from his massage therapy picked up on it with
ease. I asked him how he knew all my problems and he advised me he has done over
10 years of deep tissue and sports massage - a perfect masseuse for skiers and
snowboarders of Whistler.
I felt that people had to know about Arni's service and could almost guarantee
complete satisfaction when leaving his massage table.
If you're looking for value for money in a Whistler Spa - look no further than Mecca Massage.
